Mitchell Thought;
I owe an apology to the Church; but an even greater confession, I owe to those outside the Church…to the World…to the Un-Churched…to the Lost.
My naive desire for the approval of the Church leadership had split my faith between obedience to a “New Law” and submission to the Furious Grace of God.
In this New Law...
1. I became preoccupied with outward correctness.
2. I found it less difficult to justify my faults in hiding them.
3. I felt empowered by God in my own self-righteousness, seeing others' sins I thought were greater.
